I greet you all with the great feast of Pentecost, which, according to the Church’s understanding, we continue to celebrate through this entire week. The Holy Spirit descends upon the Apostles, and we live in this time of spiritual enlightenment – after the birth of the Church, which is the essence of the Pentecost feast.

Приветствую всех вас с великим праздником Пятидесятницы, который, согласно церковному пониманию, мы продолжим праздновать всю эту седмицу. Святой Дух сошёл на апостолов, и с тех пор христиане живут в эпоху духовного просвещения, а именно, после рождения Церкви, что и составляет суть праздника Пятидесятницы.

But this spiritual enlightenment is only potential. That is, it is not forced upon us, nor are we guaranteed to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit as the Apostles were. Our faith is not magic. We must seek out God diligently. And if we make even the slightest striving in this regard He will come to meet us, just as the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son came out to meet his child when the child returned to him after “profligate living” and the wasting of his inheritance.

Но это духовное просвещение лишь потенциально. То есть оно не навязано нам, и мы не гарантированы, что будем просвещены Святым Духом, как апостолы. Наша вера - не волшебство. Мы должны усердно искать Бога. И если мы приложим хоть малейшее усилие к этому, Он выйдет нам навстречу, как отец в притче о блудном сыне вышел навстречу своему сыну, когда тот вернулся к нему после «распутной жизни» и растраты своего наследства.

Our goal at the Classic Academy is to live as a spiritual family: to seek enlightenment of the mind so that this can be utilized for the enlightenment of the soul. In other words: we aim to teach our children how to think critically so that they can exercise wisdom in this world, and in the acquiring of the next world.

Наша цель в Классической Академии - жить как духовная семья: стремиться к просветлению разума, чтобы использовать его для просветления души. Другими словами, мы стремимся научить наших детей критически мыслить, чтобы они могли проявлять мудрость в этом мире и в обретении следующего мира.

But what is a family without parents? In the next academic year we will provide opportunities for our parents to be more involved in our school. To have more input. To receive more feedback. To be, in a word, an integral part of our school life. Over the summer and as the next academic year begins we will share more information with you in this regard. We have heard you – we know that this is what you want. And this is what we want too. That is, that we will all work together diligently and harmoniously for the good of our children: mind, body, and soul.

Но что такое семья без родителей? В следующем учебном году мы предоставим родителям возможность более активно участвовать в жизни нашей школы. Вносить больший вклад. Получать больше обратной связи. В общем, быть неотъемлемой частью нашей школьной жизни. В течение лета и с началом следующего учебного года мы поделимся с вами дополнительной информацией на этот счёт. Мы услышали вас - мы знаем, что это то, чего вы хотите. И мы тоже этого хотим. То есть, чтобы мы все вместе усердно и слаженно работали на благо наших детей и их разума, тела и души.

I look forward to working with all of you in this regard to the extent that you are able to be involved. In the next school year we will also offer regular opportunities for parents to attend spiritual discussions with our priests. We think it is important to give this opportunity to our parents, that this will help to strengthen our school family. And thus, we hope to provide for you, at least in some small way, the building materials that you can share with your children to help them build their house of faith. And not just to hand these materials over to you, but to help you find them in great abundance – in God’s House.

Я с нетерпением жду возможности сотрудничать со всеми вами в этом направлении в той мере, в какой вы сможете принять в этом участие. В следующем учебном году мы также будем регулярно предоставлять родителям возможность посещать духовные беседы с нашими священниками. Мы считаем, что важно предоставить такую возможность нашим родителям, что это поможет укрепить нашу школьную семью. И таким образом мы надеемся предоставить вам, хотя бы в малой степени, строительные материалы, которыми вы сможете поделиться со своими детьми, чтобы помочь им построить свой дом веры. И не просто передать вам эти материалы, а помочь вам найти их в большом изобилии - в Божьем доме.

If we can teach our children that some things are more important than others, and that some things are temporal while others are eternal, we can go to our rest in peace. Knowing that not only have we educated our children in the important precepts that they need to be successful in this life, but even more importantly, in the eternal precepts that they need to be successful in the next. One does not preclude the other. Both are important. But blessed is the parent that understands what is most important, and does all that he can to see to it that his children understand this as well.

Если мы сможем научить наших детей тому, что одни вещи важнее других, что одни вещи временны, а другие вечны, мы сможем спокойно уйти на покой. Зная, что мы не только обучили наших детей важным заповедям, которые необходимы им для успеха в этой жизни, но и, что ещё важнее, вечным заповедям, которые необходимы им для успеха в следующей. Одно не исключает другого. Оба важны. Но благословен тот родитель, который понимает, что важнее, и делает всё возможное, чтобы его дети тоже это понимали.

May the Lord grant our children and families a lovely summer vacation! We sincerely look forward to your return in the next academic year!

Пусть Господь подарит нашим детям и семьям прекрасные летние каникулы! Мы искренне ждём вашего возвращения в следующем учебном году!
